Reach any desired corner of the information superhighway fast and easy with the help of this visually appealing software application. #Web browser #Web navigator #Internet browser #Browser #Browse #Navigator
Accessing the information superhighway requires you to run certain applications. There is already and abundance of available web browsers, amongst which you can find Monochrome. It promises to deliver a familiar interface with the help of which you quickly view favorite web pages.
The main window of the application resembles your common office suite, which gets you up and running in no time. However, accessibility is not a concern related to web browsers, because if you are reading this, than you surely know how to use one.
An upper toolbar is fitted with an address bar and necessary navigation options. Unfortunately, the only way in which you can keep multiple pages open simultaneously is through separate windows, due to the lack of tab support.
Moreover, this is done through the file menu, with no dedicated button near the navigation options, leaving a decent amount of empty space.
Unlike some of the most commonly used web browsers out there, Monochrome lack several major features that considerably limit long term use.
In case you frequently access several pages, you need to enter the address each time. There is no implemented feature capable of storing bookmarks to make them quickly accessible. Moreover, there is no history tracker to monitor your activity, which would have replaced the missing bookmarks manager.
The application closely relies on Internet Explorer, adding a page to favorites through the context menu only makes it available in IE. Even though a “Home” button is available, it too makes use of info from the previously mentioned browser, which is the only possibility to change it.
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Monochrome has a lot more to learn before it becomes a practical web browser. Working with multiple windows makes it suck on your system resources, which further reduces efficiency, given the little features available.
