Emoji

Emoji is a compact application that aims to improve the range of emotions that you can express in a simple SMS. The program is designed to add Emoji support to your iPhone device in order to use them when creating text messages.

Emoji represents a wide range of ideograms used primarily in Japanese media and mobile devices. They manage to enrich the communication by using expressive icons specific to the Japanese culture.

Originated in Japan, the concept has spread to the rest of the world and is now available on multiple mobile phones and tablets even if you are using a Japanese carrier. Unfortunately not all devices support the icons which prevents you from embedding them in your messages.

The Emoji application is designed to help iPhone or iPod Touch users activate the emoji support in order to access a larger number of emoticons. It features a simple interface that only requires one click in order to change the device configuration.

You just need to connect your device, select it from the list when starting the program and reboot it after the process is finished.

Unfortunately, Emoji does not work on iPads or other devices running iOS 4 or later which restricts the usage to older mobile phones. Since it has not been updated in the last four years it is unlikely to work on the latest versions of iPhone.

The good news is that the latest iPhone models include support for Emoji without requiring third party tools. You just need to activate the Emoji keyboard from the General Settings menu. However, the application served its purpose well in times when Emoji was highly requested and used.
