SpeakEasy 121

JBO SpeakEasy 121 is a useful and private text based conversation (chat) system that allows two users to directly connect, computer to computer, across the Internet. No user accounts need to be set up and no third party servers are involved. SpeakEasy does not permit file transfers, thus avoiding the security risk that can result from infected files. With SpeakEasy 121 your conversation is the sole priority.

For a conversation to take place, each user must have installed SpeakEasy 121. One user will need to act as the host for the conversation by setting SpeakEasy 121 to Listen. The other user may then Connect to the host by entering the IP address of the first user. This IP address may be notified via email, a hidden web page, or such other means as may be appropriate. SpeakEasy 121 can help you discover your IP address if required.

Messages sent using SpeakEasy 121 are automatically encrypted using a simple yet effective method which is unique to SpeakEasy. Messages are automatically decrytped on receipt and the users only ever see the messages in plain language. Thus your conversation is secured from anyone attempting to intercept it. Conversations may be saved (in plain language) at any time for future reference. A conversation log reader utility is included with the SpeakEasy 121 package.

SpeakEasy 121 is not suitable for connection to any other type of Internet conversation system. A multi-user version comprising of a server with separate clients suitable for group conversations is planned for the future, but only SpeakEasy 121 allows private conversations without the need to subscribe to a messenger service, visit a chat room, or operate an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) client.

An original sound effect is integrated within the program which will alert you if, when acting as host, another user connects to SpeakEasy 121. Remember, only users who have been given your current IP address, and the correct port number, will be able to connect to you. Only one connection is permitted at any one time, thus securing the host from eavesdropping.
