Chat programs have grown in popularity since the birth of the Internet and are now installed in one form or the other on most PCs. Among these applications, a special category is taken up by LAN messaging clients, lightweight programs that allow communication between local group computers.

Tweeti Messenger is one such application that allows users to send and receive messages over TCP ports and sockets. As with most messengers, the program is highly intuitive and easy to grasp, as initiating a conversation requires only a few mouse clicks.

Before reaching out to other users, a few settings adjustments can be performed, such as defining a chat nickname and customizing the personal image. For this latter task, the messenger supports JPG and PNG documents of 256x256 resolution or less. Once these parameters are defined, users are free to start chatting with local group partners.

The program works by connecting to local IPs; however, no networking skills are required, as the chat utility automatically detects the IP of the computer it is installed on. Once a valid local IP is inserted, the program connects the two users and sending and receiving messages is performed in the standard chat box layout.

Multiple beautiful emoticons are available for use and one can even send attachments of any format. Several settings adjustments can be performed, including the ability to apply a transparency modifier to the GUI. A chat log can be kept and the use of emoticons can be blocked; also, one can deny by default files from partners.

All things considered, Tweeti Messenger is a simple, but practical tool for anyone interested in chatting with users from the local group.
