Striving to become a chat client with support for multiple services, Wey is a program that can currently handle only Slack.

First things first, Wey is a software utility focused on ease of use, offering a basic set of tools that should make communication with other members of your Slack team a breeze.

The user interface the application proposes is equally intuitive, and all you have to do in order to get in touch with other people is log into your Slack account. You can then explore the available channels or opt to contact another user by sending a direct message.

As said, the application is still in its early stages of development, so you shouldn’t get your hopes too high since you can only send plain text. There is no support for emoticons or file transfer, and no customizations can be made to the chats. The chat window only includes the names of the participants in the conversation along with details on when each message was sent.

Nevertheless, what it can do is open as many windows as you want for different messages, and closing them when the program runs in the background should raise no difficulty whatsoever.

On a more technical side, it should be mentioned that the program was written in Node.js, and its main promise is smooth performance, regardless of the number of teams you are working with. A small memory footprint is a given, so you don’t need to worry about Wey taking a toll on your PC’s resources.
