BlueBubbles is a rather ambitious open-source project that brings the world of iMessage to a broader range of platforms, including Android, Windows, Linux, and the Web. The app can be particularly appealing for Apple users who want the convenience and features of iMessage on a broader spectrum of devices.

While the client itself doesn't require extensive configuration, the initial step involves setting up the macOS server. If you don't have access to a physical macOS device, you can use a virtual machine to install the server. Follow the standard download and installation process for the server, and if needed, consult the provided tutorial. During the client setup, you'll be prompted to enter your Apple ID and establish a connection between the server and the client.

Assuming everything proceeds smoothly, you'll gain the ability to use iMessage on your Windows system, much like you would on a macOS device. An added benefit is the option to select between an iOS or Android-style interface, allowing you to tailor your settings to match your preferences.

You will be happy to learn that you can benefit from advanced features, namely the Private API features, if you are looking for a more comprehensive iMessage-like experience. Similarly to the server installation, the developer provides a guide that you can consult anytime.

Similarly to the platform, you can enjoy real-time interactions, receive read receipts, include special effects in your messages or send reactions like tapbacks, just to name a few.
