Emoji One for Pidgin

Pidgin is a free and open-source instant messaging client and, although it boasts many features, a long list of available emojis is not one of them.

That is where Emoji One for Pidgin can come in handy, especially if you're the type of person who likes to express yourself with more than just words. It is a Pidgin smiley theme based on Emoji One.

The pack contains the standard emojis you'd expect: the traditional yellow colored smileys, animals, hand signs, food items, country flags, etc. What impresses the most is the sheer number of emojis that come with it (over 1800). Taking into consideration that Pidgin has a roster of under 40 by default, this can be considered a major improvement.

Installing the pack is a piece of cake as it does not require the traditional setup process.  All you have to do is drag the downloaded file to the list of smiley themes in the "Preferences" menu, inside the "Tools" tab.

One thing that caught our attention was the pack's almost unperceivable size (under 2 MB) which brings minimal load to the base application's resource requirements.

Another aspect you should take into consideration is that these smileys only show up on your client's side. Unless the person you're talking to has the same theme installed, they will see small white error boxes instead of each smiley you send.

If you've just started using Pidgin and are the chatty type, surely you must be tired of the same handful of smileys brought by the application. That is why Emoji One for Pidgin is an excellent tool for when you're trying to express your feelings and plain old text doesn't cut it anymore.
