Online meetings can be confusing, and anxiety can play a part in preventing you from hitting the right buttons, as they say. Perhaps you forgot to unmute your microphone before a presentation, or unwittingly left your webcam on. These things can happen, and having a helper tool at your disposal to grant you more direct control over your meeting status can go a long way.
MuteDeck is such an initiative, and though it is currently only available for Zoom, it's an overall enticing proposition: it provides a toolbar through which you can readily control their status, making it easier to "take back control of your meetings", per the developer's words.
First off, it's worth noting that, though the app mainly works with Zoom, users can nevertheless utilize it for their Teams and Google Meets videoconferences. The difference is that the app will only be able to control the system mute, and nothing else.
As for Zoom meetings, users can benefit from the full toolset on offer. Mute or unmute your microphone, enable or disable your webcam, share your screen, start recording the meeting, and leave after everything's been settled. By having all of these options on a separate interface, users might be more inclined to readily adjust them when needed. There's also the added benefit of the app making some processes easier: sharing the screen only requires the user to click the appropriate button, and that's all.
Stream Deck and Loupedeck integration is available through the relevant plug-ins. This makes it easier for power-users to control their meetings with ease.
Aside from that, it's worth mentioning that the trial is a bit on the shorter side. 14 days, after which you'll need to pay up for the yearly subscription to continue benefitting from all the functions. Nevertheless, you'll retain access to the Mute button, trial or not.
MuteDeck is an interesting little app, and whether it is truly needed is a question only you can answer. For those very much in control of their meetings, the software can be all but redundant.
