Even though it enough years under its belt, Twitter still manages to hold its own next to its competitors in the ever-expanding and ever-evolving world of social media.

It may not be everyone's cup of tea and it may not be perfect, but Twitter is undoubtedly the best "feed" of real-time information.

If you're an avid Twitter user, and you don't want to have your smartphone glued to your hand every second of your life, then you have most definitely used a Twitter client.

Inspired by other reliable clients before it such as Nocturn or Twitter for Mac, TwitterTron is a hum-drum Twitter client written in typescript with React and Electron.

Its job? - As simple as they get: to bring Twitter to your desktop, and not much else.

The app allows you to access your Twitter feed, Tweet, Retweet, reply, and mention, as well as create threads. The interface is modern, yet extremely simple, and there are no customization options.

That said, it's quite clear that TwitterTron is and what it isn't. TwitterTron doesn't have all the fancy features of other Twitter clients. You can't schedule Tweets, you can't manage multiple feeds at once (or multiple accounts), and you can't filter posts and Tweets.

In short, if you're looking for all the bells and whistles found in premium Twitter clients, you'll be disappointed.

Even though we are all aware of Twitter's API restrictions (making it somewhat difficult for all developers to add extra functionality via clients), TwitterTron is not a bad choice.

Yes, it's very simple, yes the interface isn't the snappiest of the bunch, and yes, it provides next to no features outside of what the platform offers. On the other hand, it's open-source (so you can check out the code yourself in order to make sure what data is collected about you), it's free, and it looks good on Windows.
