Easily send messages across the network to one or more computers through an intuitive process which requires no Internet access to function #Send message #Message sender #Network communicator #Send #Sender #Comunicate
Since the computer invaded most domains of activity, it’s now an important part of daily routines. Most workplaces keep computers grouped in a network, with various default Windows commands which can be executed to easily interact with other PCs. For instance, jNetSend can help you easily send messages across the network.
For starters, the application saves you the effort required to go through a setup process, and can be launched right after download. Just make sure that Java Runtime Environment is on your computer because it’s a mandatory requirement for functionality. Since it requires no setup, it can be easily carried around on a thumb drive.
There’s still more to do before you fully benefit from all the application has to offer. All computers participating in this session need to have the Net Send and Messenger services activated. This is either done through the Command Prompt or services manager, which might take a bit of effort and time, with no option provided by the application to automatically enable these services.
Once all technical details are configured, the application is good to go. A couple of dedicated fields need to be filled in, one with the target PCs, while the other with the message to send. Target PC input is done through the computer name, and not the IP address. Luckily, the application detects computers on your network and lets you select one or more receivers.
Messages don’t really have a character limit, but the entire text is delivered on a single line. The receiver doesn’t necessarily need to have the application running, except for sending back messages. There’s no reply option, so all basic receiver and message configurations need to be performed.
In conclusion, jNetSend is a practical little tool with which to send messages across the network, but you need to go to great lengths to activate the required command on all computers before messages can be sent and received.
