While you can save videos on YouTube in one of your playlists to listen to whenever you want, the video sharing platform does not offer the possibility to download clips. Nevertheless, the vast and wide world of the Internet does not lack third-party applications that allow downloading content from YouTube and other similar services. YouTubeClick is just one of the many.

This simple application provides a quick and simple means of downloading content from YouTube, whether we are talking about videos or audio. In other words, you can use it to grab content and save it locally in a folder of your choice, thus creating an offline collection of videos and music for you to enjoy even if a connection to the Internet is not available.

The application is extremely intuitive and easy to use, but please keep in mind that you might need to run it with administrative rights and relaunch it to be able to change the interface language, which is set to Italian by default.

The GUI is simple but, frankly, having the YouTube logo as a background is tiring and makes the options and buttons less visible. Leaving that aside, the main window allows you to fill in or paste the URL of the video to download. Unfortunately, there is no way to preview the video, as you might expect, an option that most video downloaders do offer usually.

A drop-down list allows you to choose the video quality by selecting between two options: high or low. That is the only option to deal with prior to downloading the video, except for choosing the output location.

If you want to extract the audio content and save it locally, the procedure is similar. You only have to select the desired bitrate and hit the download button to begin downloading the audio stream and save it as an MP3 file. No other format is available.

YouTubeClick is a simple application with even simpler options. It allows you to download videos from YouTube and extract audio streams without a lot of hassle. The interface could use a makeover, since the background makes options less visible, and the application could use preview capabilities and batch downloading. To put it another way, while the application works well enough, it still needs further improvements to match its competitors.
