POP3 Collector

POP3 Collector has been designed to retrieve email messages from POP3 email addresses and push them to an SMTP server automatically. According to the developer the application has been tested using Microsoft Exchange in particular.

The application has an easy to understand interface that should not pose any trouble, even to less experienced users, although the product is not targeted at them.

There is no limitation as far as the supported number of POP3 email accounts is concerned, and the only restriction in this sense is imposed by the running hardware.

Apart from adding the email addresses whose messages need to be forwarded the configuration options in POP3 Collector also include the possibility to configure mail retrieval and defining a download schedule for carrying out its tasks.

Among the functions available in the application there is global mailbox support that allows using a catch-all address in order to grab all the messages from a specific domain.

The developer warns that although the data is sent to the correct recipient the application cannot do it when the recipient is listed in the BCC (blind carbon copy) field because it is no included in the email’s headers.

Also on the list of features is the possibility to collect emails from multiple domains and to use the application as a router between multiple email systems by assigning different SMTP servers for the POP accounts.

Archival functions enable the user to store the messages for any period of time even if they have been forwarded successfully; the only drawback to this is that the folder can get pretty large after a while.

POP3 Collector is not intended for the average user but for administrators, for whom it may be a valuable asset. It is easy to configure although some quirks may still appear, depending on the server configuration and the resources available.
