IPFS Desktop

In an attempt to develop means of making file sharing more effective and overcome caveats such as those that are present in HTTP file downloading, process which performs single file instead of simultaneous, multi-file download, the developers at IPFS have created the IPFS Desktop client, for easy handling.

Built with a peer-to-peer hypermedia protocol at its core, it will perform file hosting using cryptographic hash for file identification, while also remove any network duplications. The indexing information for nodes has been simplified, by having each node store only relevant information about each particular file.

By having the nodes contain only the essential, relevant information, upon inquiries and searches, one will be able to find out the preferred file much faster, since the network will be queried through the said nodes.

In order to make things even simpler, each node itself will be assigned a regular, text string name, through the decentralized naming system that is at the core of IPNS.

Deployed as a desktop client which requires no programming or even command-line interaction, IPFS Desktop will have all of its features and functionality accessible through a dedicated tray area icon, which stores menus and sub-menus corresponding to some of the most required tasks or processes.
