BNTP: Bookmarks in New Tab Page

Usually, when you bookmark something while browsing, there's a reason behind it. Bookmarks aren't all created equal: some websites are more important than others, so you want those domains of particular importance more front-and-center than the lesser ones. The Bookmarks Toolbar can be configured to your liking, but that may not be enough for some users.

Those who utilize Chrome and wish to keep a tab on their bookmarks can do so through BNTP: Bookmarks in New Tab Page, which is an extension that changes your New Tab page to a more practical alternative, where your bookmarks and most visited domains take the spotlight.

The New Tab page is either of no significance at all to some users, or quite relevant to others. Many don't even make use of it, instead choosing to mainly rely on their address bar to take them to where they want. By replacing a tab as such, users focused on productivity can perhaps be a little more efficient in their web surfing.

The philosophy behind the add-on is clear enough: each time the user opens a blank new tab, they'll be greeted by their bookmarks and most accessed domains. By granting them this functionality, they can more easily navigate to those pages of interest. Though it wouldn't hurt being able to make the icons for the most accessed websites a tad bigger, the interface is an overall functional one, which helps with usability.

Light and Dark mode themes are available to users, and they both come with their own variations: Standard, and Solarized, to be precise. Standard simply makes the interface look light or dark, while Solarized can change the aspect of both modes. Light mode thus gains a sort of yellowy-orange tint, while Dark's aspect changes to a dark-cyan palette.

Clicking the extension's icon, outside of the New Tab page, is possible. Doing so will bring up a condensed version of that page, allowing users to handily navigate straight to their bookmarked domains. Being able to resize this interface would be a useful addition.

BMTP: Bookmarks in New Tab Page is a take that can serve some users quite well. Having your bookmarks presented to you this way will no doubt be to the liking of many — particularly those who wish to have their top domains more readily accessible.
