Bookmarks Commander for Chrome

Double-sided file management tools are one of the most sought-after applications. Having that in mind, the developers of the Bookmarks Commander extension created a two-pane bookmark manager for your browser. Due to Bookmarks Commander, the power, ease of use and versatility of an NC-like explorer is extended to managing bookmarks, given that they are also organized in folders.

The extension is immediately installed and a new icon is displayed in the toolbar area of Chrome. Clicking on it opens Bookmarks Commander in a new tab, where you can see a list of all your bookmarks. The root folder is the main bookmark directory, which by default includes the Bookmarks bar and other bookmarks.

Just like in a regular file manager, you can create new folders and assign them a custom name. Bookmarks are the “files” and, with just a few clicks, you can create and save new bookmarks in the desired folder. For each entry, Bookmarks Commander displays its name, URL and the dates they were added and modified last.

As you would expect from a NC-like manager, be it one for bookmarks and not regular files in Windows, Bookmarks Commander comes with a series of controls that are neatly displayed in the lower side of the window.

With just the click of a button, you can copy the title, the URL and the ID of the selected bookmark. The current title and the link can be modified just as easy.

New bookmarks and directories can be easily created and, what’s more, you can move bookmarks from one folder to another without a lot of hassle. Additional tools enable you to navigate to the root folder, mirror a side, delete or sort bookmarks. The built-in search tool helps you query your bookmarks collection and, what’s more, it comes with integrated duplicate search capabilities.

Bookmarks Commander is definitely an interesting extension for Chrome, as it allows you to work with bookmarks exactly as you would with files in Windows. It is easy to use and seamlessly integrates with your browser without requiring third-party applications, which is quite convenient.

One thing worth noticing is that Bookmarks Commander does not affect the functionality of the default bookmark manager in Chrome. You can still use the latter to create and manage bookmarks but, once you have a taste of the Bookmarks Commander extension, it is highly possible you give up the default one.
