Compare.it for Chrome

Nowadays, more and more people are attracted to online shopping because, in theory, it’s a lot less time consuming than visiting physical stores. However, since more and more platforms are created to meet the demand, it becomes increasingly difficult to find the best offers and, ironically, you also spend a lot of time browsing every website.

Yes, in the world of online shopping, tools that promise to help you spend less time deciding what to buy (or from which platform) are more than welcome. Now let’s see what Compare.it is all about.

Compare.it is a very simple extension for Google Chrome that you can use to save just a bit of time when you’re looking to find the best price for a certain product. Let’s suppose you’re planning on buying a new PlayStation from Amazon.

First, you go to Amazon and find the product that you’re looking for. But then you think: “Hey, this is quite expensive, maybe I can find it cheaper on eBay.” Well, now instead of opening a new tab, typing “e-b-a-y-dot-c-o-m” (or clicking on the bookmarked link) and then clicking on eBay’s search bar and typing “p-l-a-y-s-t-a-t-i-o-n-space-4”, you can just click on the Compare.it extension in the Chrome bar, then click on eBay.

The add-on will now open a new tab that takes you directly to eBay, where the search for “PlayStation 4” is already performed. Pretty great, right? Well, not really.

The truth is that it took me a lot longer to write that previous paragraph than it would take you to perform a search on a different website. Yes, Compare.it works and it can save you a few clicks, but it’s nothing significantly helpful.

Apart from Amazon and eBay, the platform only works with Sears, Walmart, Alibaba and AliExpress, so you don’t even have a great selection of e-commerce platforms to choose from. It’s safe to say that only people who shop exclusively on the aforementioned websites would find Compare.it truly useful.
