Almost all modern web browser, or least the most popular ones, anyway, are quite capable of dealing with day-to-day downloads without breaking a sweat, and Google's Chrome is no by no means an exception.

Be that as it may, there's always room for improvement, as Download Plus, a featherweight, and efficient Chrome extension is keen on pointing out. To be fair, it doesn't exactly revolutionize the way you can handle downloads in Google Chrome, but it does bring a few improvements and a few customization features, nonetheless.

For starters, the simple fact that it allows you to manage downloads from Chrome's toolbar (and not from the typical Downloads Bar - found in the lower part) may be a compelling reason for some of you out there.

Monitoring your downloads' progress while using Chrome, restarting them, clearing the download lists, as well as searching for various downloaded files is now a tad bit easier, as well.

Head over to Download Plus' Settings section, and you are in for a small yet interesting set of customization options. For example, you can enable both sound and native system notifications, control their hover time, and disabled Chrome's default Downloads Bar.

Even better, you can now control what clicking a notification does: it allows you to either open the file directly or view it in its default Explorer location. You can also enable or disable the preview list and the media finder features, both of which you may find quite useful.

If you're looking for a way of improving Chrome's download management capabilities without having to undergo complicated procedures, then Download Plus probably offers the most convenient way of doing so, alongside with other various personalization features which, we have to admit, make a difference.
