GIFs have since long been very prevalent in our online culture, and it’s safe to say that there are a plethora of online databases for them. That means that literally, anyone is just a few seconds away from getting his or her hands on some of the world’s most famous GIFs.

But, what about creating your own custom GIFs? Well, the Internet is home to a few very good online GIF creation tools, but there’s no denying that using them requires you stopping what you’re currently doing.

Meet GIFit!, a nifty little Chrome extension that allows you to instantly create awesome GIFs directly from any YouTube video. Without a doubt, this is one of the most (if not the most) convenient tools for creating custom GIFs out there, as you’re bound to find out once deployed in your Google Chrome browser.

The extension makes its presence known via a typical icon in the browser’s toolbar, and via a custom icon in YouTube’s video player interface. Using it is extremely simple: just go to YouTube, access any video you find interesting, click the GIFit! Icon (located next to the Settings/CC buttons), set the start/end time, and click the big red “GIFit!” button.

Depending on the selected length and quality, you should be able to save your GIF anywhere between 2 and 10 seconds. There are other options as well, as you can also choose the width and height for the GIF, as well as the framerate.

Before we conclude, it’s worth noting that the extension only works if your browser plays YouTube videos using HTML5.
