Web Search Navigator

For some time, Google provided users with an experimental keyboard navigation feature, but it has recently been removed due to the frequent issues users encountered.

Web Search Navigator is a browser extension created to offer this functionality in Google Chrome. It enables you to navigate through results using keybindings, which are fully customizable.

Once you have installed the extension, you will be ready to take advantage of the new features. While the bindings are fully customizable, we found the default hotkeys to be easily accessible.

For instance, you can select the next or previous search result using the arrow keys, J or K, focus on the input search box using Escape and open a selected result in a new tab by pressing Ctrl+Enter or Ctrl+Space.

Multiple shortcuts can be configured for each action, and instructions are available in the Options panel to help you set everything up correctly.

You can specify whether or not the extension should wrap around when you get to the first or last search result. We recommend that you enable this function, as it makes navigation much easier.

Lastly, the extension can focus on the first search result as soon as the page has loaded. This feature is optional, but it is probably best to leave it enabled.

On the whole, Web Search Navigator is a well-designed extension that offers a feature Google has recently removed from its search engine – the ability to navigate through results using the keyboard.

It is very easy to configure, and you can change the default keybindings to any you prefer. It is also worth noting that the extension is open-source.
