Quickly glance over who else is working on the same GitHub issue or pull request as you with the help of this useful Chrome extension #GitHub Tool #GitHub Issue Reader #GitHub Issue Monitor #GitHub #Issue #Pull
GitHub is currently is among the top 100 most popular websites on Earth, and, dare we say it, for good reason as it’s the world’s largest software development platform, a platform designed by developers for developers. It provides cloud storage for source code, supports all popular programming languages, and streamlines literally every aspect of the versioning control (or revision control) management.
Collaboration is a key factor of GitHub and even though it’s GUI is quite good (let’s not forget that it doesn’t bring any clutter such as ads and similar content), there are still various aspects that can be improved.
One particular aspect that GitHub doesn’t really handle all that well is that of allowing developers to see who else is working on the same issue or pull request as them. If this is one of the problems that your team struggles with, then you will surely want to try out HangHub.
In short, HangHub is a lightweight GitHub team productivity tool that comes in the form of a browser extension for both Chrome and Firefox. In this review, we will focus more on the Chrome extension, even though both are quite similar.
Once installed, HangHub lives in Chrome’s toolbar, right next to the address bar, just like most other extensions from the Chrome Web Store. The extension provides you with the ability to see which other users are currently viewing, commenting, editing, or merging the same issue or pull request as you in real time.
This way, you can ensure that you don’t waste time working on the exact same thing as one of your colleagues or teammates at the same time. What’s more, HangHub allows you to disable it altogether or for specific organizations or repositories. This can be done via a series of simple eye-pleasing switches from the extensions main GUI (by simply clicking its icon).
Without a doubt HangHub is a very useful extension that improves upon GitHub’s already very good and practical GUI by allowing you to see who’s viewing, commenting, editing, or merging in real time. It may be small and unassuming, and totally unimpressive for most GitHub users, but it can clearly be a valuable time-saver for development teams.
