I Just Want the Recipe Janet

I want to start by saying that I have absolutely no idea who Janet is. However, I do agree with the developer of this extension that food websites and blogs can be most annoying. If you want to get through the ingredients you usually have to scroll through endless  paragraphs about how the author’s family used to cook this recipe since before the Ottomans conquered Constantinople, and how it was passed down from generation to generation.

If you want to also read the cooking instructions, well, that’s another story. I’m not saying stories aren’t beautiful, but, well, not when you’re kind of hungry. In order to avoid reading all that extra text and speed up the cooking process, you could use the extension called I Just Want the Recipe Janet.

After you add the extension to Google Chrome, you could try searching for a recipe. When you enter the webpage, you’ll notice an orange button appearing at the bottom on the page, labeled “I Just Want the Recipe”.

If you click it, the add-on will detect the recipe and will “replace” everything you see on the page with just the recipe and everything it finds that’s essentially related to it (tips about cooking, maybe even a picture). Pretty easy, right?

Unfortunately, I Just Want the Recipe Janet didn’t work with all the recipe websites and blogs that I’ve tested it on. More often than not, it will not activate when you enter some of those rare websites where you can find the ingredients right at the top of the page. However, there were still many cooking sites with long stories where the button failed to materialize.

Nevertheless, the extension did work the majority of times, so I can only conclude that many hungry people will find I Just Want the Recipe Janet useful.
