Web browsers are arguably the most important piece of software for any modern PC. One of the best aspects of most modern browsers is their versatility and, thanks to extensions, their improved and varied functionality.
Over time, browsers have become, for most people, the perfect platforms for personal knowledge, bookmark, and note organization. Platforms such as Evernote, Google Keep, Microsoft Onenote, Simplenote, and Apple Notes have all become increasingly popular.
One similar tool is Kollate, a user-friendly and stylish Google Chrome extension that promises to deliver a smooth mix between a bookmark organizer and a notetaking app. In short, it allows users to bookmark links, effortlessly add notes, or screenshots, and organize them in either collections or notebooks.
To get started with Kollate, users simply have to install the extension from the Chrome Web Store, and either create a new Kollate account, or log in using their existing Facebook, or Google account.
Once installed, the extension smooth integrates with Chrome’s toolbar, from where users can add bookmarks, open notes, take screenshots, or swiftly search for other saved resources.
Accessing that saved content is extremely easy thanks to the extension’s straightforward and intuitive GUI. Users have the option of accessing all the resources, as well as all notes and notebooks, or just the daily diary. There’s also a reading list section that allows users to add resources that are not that important into sections such as “Someday” or “Weekend Readings.”
The Collections section is also very nice since it allows users to organize content as well as access the imported bookmarks. Lastly, it’s worth noting that the content saved with Kollate can also be organized using the following tags: article, video, link, book, and audio (by default). Of course, users can also add custom tags directly from the Settings section.
Without a doubt, Kollate is a very useful platform, and since it has a Chrome extension, it should appeal to a wide range of users out there. However, there’s no denying the fact that Kollate faces stiff competition, as there are a plethora of other, very competent platforms of this sort out there.
Nevertheless, Kollate is a well-made and useful extension that allows anyone to organize online content in collections and notebooks, and effortlessly access them while using the world’s most popular browser.
