Midnight Lizard for Chome

Most people noways prefer to avoid the bright white light coming from the browser's background. Dark themes or modes are the best alternatives to any browser or website, but if a plain dark background won't cut it for you, there might be another way to change website themes. Midnight Lizard for Chrome is a nifty add-on that lets you apply different color combinations to any website you visit using Chrome.

Midnight Lizard comes with a hefty set of options, accessible through the little chameleon icon located on the extension bar. To check out the color schemes, you just have to collapse the menu with the same name.

There is a total of 15 different color schemes, each different and unique in its own way. Choosing one from the list will result in an instant palette change, even if the page is opened. However, if the dozen and so templates are not enough, or the color combination you prefer is not there, you can build your own custom one.

You'd think that choosing a color scheme or creating a new one is easy, but wait until you see how many elements are involved in setting up a colored background.

If you take a look at the left side of the UI, you'll notice a bunch of small menus, each representing a segment of a webpage. Accessing these menus will bring forth a color customization layout, with tons of sliders that can help you build the desired color scheme.

After you're done building or choosing a color arrangement, you can preview it, by selecting it from the first menu we've talked about and then apply it. Keep in mind that once applied, a specific coloration will affect all the other sites you visit.

To exclude a webpage from being affected by the extension, you can simply turn that off by using the top right slider, or through Alt+Shift+M hotkey.

Midnight Lizard is an excellent add-on for Chrome users who are not satisfied by the default dark themes most websites offer.  With a handful of predetermined color schemes and limitless color combinations, this add-on can become your favorite website background enhancer.
