Working online is basically the norm for most of us nowadays. However, working online does have its set of challenges, mostly having to do with the fact that, at times, it can be difficult to stay perfectly focused on the job at hand.

Thankfully, there are numerous productivity tools out there that can help you stay on track, be more consistent while working, and reaching your goals. Even though it’s tiny and simple, Motivate prides itself with being one of those tools that can help you improve your productivity.

More to the point, Motivate is a Google Chrome extension that is all about not allowing you to procrastinate while working online. It does so via a system of smart notifications: one your goal is set (including the date until a certain task must be completed), the extension permanently displays the target date and details in the lower-left corner of your browser, so you can’t really miss it.

It also nags you with a “Time Waster Warning” label each time you access some of the world’s most famous social media sites such as Facebook or Twitter. When this nag screen appears (color in bright red, mind you), you’ll be asked if your goal has been met or not. You can click “Yes, please dismiss” and the extension will stop “bothering” you, or you can click the “No, I’m lazy” option and have it nag you some more until you actually decide to get work done.

Well, as with all productivity tools out there, their effects and the overall results depend greatly on each person’s mindset and personality type. For some, Motivate might seem a bit too simplistic and way too annoying. However, for others, especially the type of people who like to postpone tasks a lot, Motivate might just be the answer.
