Opening a new tab in Chrome isn’t usually the most exciting experience, but you can spice things up by installing an extension that adds something interesting to each new tab page.

New Tab by Getty Images is one of your options, a Chrome extension that displays a picture from Getty Images in every tab, along with a clock, search box and photo carousel.

If you are not familiar with it, Getty Images is a stock photo service that provides access to millions of images, as well as illustrations and videos. They are all high quality, so you can’t help but be impressed by them when they are shown in your browser.

You will see a fresh photo whenever you open a new tab, and it is unlikely that you will get any repeats when you consider just how many images the extension has to choose from.

Aside from showing images in your new tabs, the extension also displays a clock, which supports 24H and AM/PM mode, as well as a search box for Google, Getty Images and iStock.

On the bottom of the page, you will find a photo carousel that provides quick access to other interesting pictures from Getty Images and displays their descriptions. There are sorted into categories, such as News, Entertainment and Sports.

If you aren’t a fan of either of these features, it is worth noting that they can all be disabled. Once you turn them off, you will be able to admire every photo without being distracted by anything else.

Overall, New Tab by Getty Images is a great extension for users who wish to add a little something extra to their new tabs in Chrome. It displays beautiful photos from an extensive online library, along with a simple clock and a handy search box.
