Omega Adblocker

If you are looking for an ad blocker, you'll surely find a lot of apps, and there are a lot of add-ons that meet that requirement. As the ad blocker segment is pretty rich, you have to decide whether you need a full-featured tool, or you'll be happy with a basic, all-around add-on. Omega Adblocker is a practical, yet simple Chrome extension that will block ads on most sites.

After you install the add-on, its icon will pop up in the extension bar. Click on the icon to reveal the single-button interface. As the extension has no other functions besides ad blocking, there was no need for anything else except for the Enable/Disable button.

The UI offers a bit of information about the number of blocked ads, and how many of them were blocked in total, per session. This way, nobody can say that all there is to this extension is a single button.

Omega Adblocker was tested on several sites and it performed well on all of them. Also, we've tested the way it reacts to disabling or enabling, and unsurprisingly, one has to refresh after each command in order for the changes to take effect.

One tricky aspect of the plugin would be the incompatibility with the YouTube platform, or at least that is specified on the home page. However, we have tested the app against YouTube and it worked just fine. It's uncertain if the add-on shouldn't be able to work on YT, by design, or if we simply got lucky. Nevertheless, no one will mind if it works, most likely.

It might not have a place with the popular extensions that block ads, but at the end of the day, it works, and it's simple, and there are a lot of users out there who are looking for this type of tool.
