When you find something interesting online and you want to share it with your friends, you normally have to either send an e-mail or open a chat application. The process seems a bit cumbersome, but it can be streamlined with the right software.

Point is a Chrome extension designed to provide you with an easier way to share interesting links with others. You can send something without ever leaving the page you found it on, as well as highlight a particularly relevant quote, and then discuss it with your friends.

When you’ve found something you’d like to share, there are a few ways you can go about it. You can click the extension’s icon in the Chrome toolbar and select the “Point Current Tab” option, press the @ key anywhere on the page or click the Point button that appears on some websites in the bottom-right corner of the page.

Next, you just need to select which friends should get the link. You can set multiple recipients if you wish to share something with an entire group. New items will be highlighted when they are received, and the extension can also play a sound notification.

When sharing a link, you can also select a passage of text that you feel is particularly interesting or worth discussing. The quote will appear in the chat window and stay highlighted on the page whenever you visit it.

The extension allows you to chat with your friends, making it much easier to talk about a certain article or quote.

If all your friends use Chrome and iOS devices, you’re all good. However, if that is not the case, Point may not be the best choice. It is not available for any other browsers or Android devices at present, so you may find it difficult to connect with your friends.

On the whole, Point is a great concept that seeks to simplify the process of sharing interesting links and discussing them. It features a modern UI and is easy to use, but it needs to become available on more platforms.
