Reverse Image Search for Chrome

Major search engines allow not only searching by keywords, but also by image or URL. Yes, images are searchable and, whether it is a photo, a profile pic, a meme or a wallpaper, you can easily discover visually similar images from around the Internet.

But how about always having a “search by image” tool available to you, in the right-click menu? That is what Reverse Image Search for Chrome does, allowing a quick image search to be performed while surfing the web in Chrome.

The extension is easily installed, and Chrome’s context menu is updated instantly. No matter the website you browse, simply hover over any image you find, right-click on the mouse and the menu opens for you to find the newly Reverse Image Search option near the bottom of the list. If you have not yet taken the time to go through the extension’s options, then the default settings are applied, so Google Image Search will be the engine to use.

To customize the search, you must simply tick the right boxes of the search engines to use. The add-on provides support for multiple search providers, namely Google, IQDB, TinEye Reverse Search, Microsoft’s Bing, Yandex, Baidu, and more. But this is only a narrow list, as you can manually add your own suggestions following the same patterns for the URL as in the examples. One or more providers can be toggled active, which means that the extension will initiate a reverse image search on each.

By default, Reverse Image Search for Chrome is configured to search all the selected providers, opening a new background tab for each. However, there is also an option that toggles a submenu, allowing you to choose between the list of reverse image search services.

With an extension such as Reverse Image Search for Chrome installed in the browser, initiating a new search to find similar images on the web is a matter of a few clicks. There is nothing easier than right-clicking on the image to forward it to your preferred search engine, without having to open a new tab yourself and doing all this manually.
