Sharing your account involves an inherent risk: you're essentially trusting the other person with your authentication data, which may come back to haunt you. ShareAccount for Chrome provides an interesting way through which one can share their account details: log in with the account you wish to share on the relevant website, ask your contact for their code, and share the result. They will then be able to instantly log in, without revealing any sensitive account data.

Being able to skip having to send out your account information to someone over text can eliminate some hassle, and that's precisely the scope of such an extension. Simply put, your sensitive login details are now replaced by two sets of codes, and by entering their respective values in their extension, the recipient can log into your account right away.

The workflow isn't much different if you're the recipient, either. The account owner will have to supply you with their codes, and you'll be granted access to their account. It's worth noting that, as an owner, you can set a timeout for your code, which will render the account login invalid after a certain time period.

The extension's efficacy is website-dependent. Some websites will throw out a cookie error, while some others will let you in without a problem. It seems as though Google-related domains, such as YouTube, Gmail, and so on, aren't too cooperative, while sharing your GitHub account data won't be a problem. As such, it's best you test the relevant websites for which you have an account, and see how the extension fares out.
