Snip

Snip is a curious little Chrome add-on that snips out passages or elements from within a webpage. If you are not happy with an image, an ad, or an offensive paragraph, Snip will help you remove them from sight, and will save your choice for whenever you come revisit.

Not all extensions require direct access to an interface, however, Snip would be of more help if it is pinned to the extension area.

Open the add-ons menu to select the snipping type. If you want to chop off a simple element, you go with the Snip One option. If you wish to apply more than one cut, Snip Multiple will allow you to completely sanitize a page.

Let's say you are trying to teach your children something about a certain subject, but you'd like to keep the young ones attention to whatever you want them to learn. You open the page, select the text or banners you want to go, and that's it.

A counter will be provided for each removed bit. Restoring pages to their initial state is also a possibility. Due to how the extension works with saving the modification for further sessions, restoring segments of a page must be done manually.

Hotkeys are essential for a smoother page execution. You can use Alt+S or Alt+A for snip type selection. To display the snipped portions, Alt+E will be your combination. Sadly, there is no way to customize these hotkeys, but they are not very difficult to get used to.

Snip might look like a tool made for censorship, but this is not its purpose. Hiding webpage sections one's not interested in, or covering some pieces of information to test your kids or buddies, is far from being harmful. Also, the possibility to always revert to a page's original state leaves room for no mistakes.
