Tab Cola

Whether you need to add one more member to your “silly Chrome extension” collection, or you really like the sound that a can of Coca-Cola (or most other fizzy drinks) makes when being opened, you can’t really go wrong with Tab Cola.

As its name clearly states, Tab Cola is a nifty, little Chrome extension that aims to make the whole opening a new tab experience sound a lot more refreshing by adding a bit of “fizz” into the equation. The extension’s sole role is to make you smile each time you open a new Chrome tab. That or to annoy the hell out of you.

The extension can be deployed in your favorite browser just like most extensions directly from the Chrome Web Store without requiring more than a few mouse clicks on your part. The first and most obvious aspect of this extension is its simplicity. Tab Cola does not offer any sort of customization features, and it literally has no GUI.

That said, you can easily install it and opt to hide its icon in the Chrome menu, so you don’t waste precious space in the extension area of the toolbar. The saddest part about this extension is the fact that it does not offer users a larger collection of sounds (i.e. sound of a champagne cork blowing off, sound of beer being poured in a glass, or other similar sounds).

Be that as it may, there’s no denying that the sound of the Cola can popping open when you open a new tab is nothing short of delicious. There’s not much to be said about this extensions as its feature set is extremely limited (almost non-existing). That does not make it a bad extension, but it might make it a pretty boring one, especially after a couple of days of usage.
