Tic Tac Toe for Chrome

Nowadays games usually take one of two directions: they either become complex applications that have industrial-sized system requirements, or they can go down the path of simplicity. Tic Tac Toe is a Chrome extension that chooses the second path and does it efficiently.

Even among Chrome extensions, this app's file size is almost unnoticeable, yet it manages to deliver a great and relaxing experience.   The setup process is the same as to be expected with all Chrome extensions and allows you to start playing in less than a minute. The graphics are simplistic yet polished. The color palette is vivid yet simple, and the sounds are short yet conclusive, making the game feel like the typical flash game from the early 2000s. One thing worth mentioning is that the AI is not simplistic at all, and will sometimes prove to be more of a challenge than when facing another person.

The game adds some new elements to the table, not just the typical "play the game" and "view high scores" menus. It allows both single player and multiplayer, as long as both players are using the same PC, as the app does not offer online support. Tic Tac Toe strays from the typical rule of having just a 3x3 grid game field and also adds a 5x5 and 7x7 grid, allowing for more dynamic gameplay, longer matches, and improved strategies. This is because the goal of the game is to have 3 of your symbols in a row, but the rules never mention where exactly that now has to be on the field.

If you're between work sessions and you have a few minutes to yourself, you might as well do something to relax.  Tic Tac Toe manages to deliver such a relaxing experience, and if you have someone to partake in this endeavor, even better, making this lightweight extension a good addition to your browser.
