Twitch Chat Overhaul is a helpful chrome extension that allows you to make a few modifications to the Twitch chat section so as to make it easier to read. It can be useful for both viewers and streamers.

Once the extension has been installed, you can open any Twitch stream and start making adjustments. The extension’s icon can be found right next to the chat settings and viewer list buttons.

It is possible to add a border between messages and use zebra stripes to make it easier to tell them apart. If images are posted, you have the option of hiding them.

Twitch Chat Overhaul lets you customize the font style, color and size, as well as increase chat spacing. When you’ve finished configuring everything, you can save your settings.

Unfortunately, the extension does not allow you to make any modifications to the chat replay that is displayed when watching VODs. If you don’t often manage to catch live broadcasts, Twitch Chat Overhaul will not be particularly useful.

We also noticed that, in some cases, the extension’s button would not show up unless the channel was opened using a direct link or after the tab was refreshed.

In short, Twitch Chat Overhaul does a pretty good job of adding more customization options to the Twitch chat, but it only works with live streams, and it sometimes fails to load. Nevertheless, this extension can prove very helpful for users who are having trouble reading the chat.
