We all know that the Internet seems to be literally infinite, and there are times where we keep opening tab after tab only to find ourselves lost in an ocean of webpages, not being able to navigate back to the information we need.

Whether you’re really dependent on having dozens of tabs open at all times, or you’re simply stacking tabs for “reading later” purposes in a sort of weird FOMO style, here’s something that might help you get back control.

It’s called Zet and it’s a Google Chrome extension designed to make searching for tabs feel like a walk in the park. In short, it provides users with a macOS Spotlight-like interface that allows them to effortlessly search for tabs, and quickly jump between even across multiple instances of Chrome.

If it sounds a bit too ambiguous, here’s how it works: once Zet is installed on your Chrome browser, use the CTRL+SHIFT+SPACE keyboard combo to toggle its interface. Search for a preferred tab using either the tab’s title or the URL, and use the navigation keys on your keyboard (up and down arrow keys) to find the tab in question from the provided list.

Once Zet’s interface is active, you can use the ALT+[1-9] combinations to quickly jump between multiple tab results. You can also use CTRL+SHIFT+U to jump to a previous tab. The extension also allows you to view only audible tabs. This can be accomplished using the CTRL+S combination. To mute any given tab, simply press SHIFT and the associated number of the tab in Zet’s GUI.

By now, it’s quite clear just how useful Zet can be. Not only does it provide you with a simple way of locating and accessing any given tab, but it can also help you mute or unmute them – all of this without forcing you to take your hands off the keyboard. At the end of the day, Zet might not be for everybody, but people who regularly work with tons of tabs will be sure to appreciate just how useful this little tool can be.
