Zoom for Google Chrome

If you have vision issues that prevent you from viewing a page's content, and the browser's integrated zoom function does not help very much, you can add an extra level of zoom to your Chrome browser. Zoom is a lightweight extension that greatly enhances the level of zoom for any page.

Zoom is so simple that it requires no interface. When you access the Z icon, all that pops up is a slide bar. Drag the bar left or right to change the level of zoom for the currently opened page.

Also, the slider has two manual buttons that can apply a more accurate zoom selection. The mouse wheel may be fast, but it is also slippery, while the manual controls provide a slower but more accurate level selection.

If sliding the bar every time you need to use the zoom function is annoying or time-consuming, you can check the options menu, from where you can set up the mouse to do all the work.

Right-click the extension and look for the Options entry. A new page will be opened with two sets of options, Basic and Advanced. Go straight to the advanced tweaks and focus on the first feature, Mouse Wheel. You then have to choose between two ways of zooming with the mouse buttons, and both require the first checkbox to be checked. What click options you intend to opt for is a personal preference.

The basic settings provide miscellaneous functions related to the slider's color, default zoom levels, screen size and resolution values, and also a neat function that lets you set up a specific zoom level that can be applied to any website you want.

Zoom is a powerful alternative for the default zoom function of Chrome. It can zoom in a lot more, and it also stacks with the integrated zoom values, allowing for even greater magnification.
