Time Is Money is a Chrome extension that addresses this concern. It converts prices you find online into work hours based on your earnings, allowing you to get a better idea of how affordable every item is, and whether it is really worth the effort.

The setup process is far from complicated. After installing the extension, you just need to access the settings and set your hourly or yearly wage. The dollar is the default currency, but you can replace it with another.

Now, when you visit a website that shows prices in the selected currency, they will be converted into work hours automatically. The value will be displayed next to the price, and it usually does not look out of place.

If you only buy things with dollars, you won’t have any problem configuring the extension. However, if you use a different currency, such as euros or pounds, you have to insert the symbol and currency name manually.

Of course, the process isn’t exactly complex, but it would have been great if it were more streamlined, allowing users to switch between currencies quickly. It is also worth noting that multiple currencies cannot be used at the same time.

On the whole, Time Is Money isn’t a particularly complex extension, and it could be improved in a couple of respects. Nevertheless, it can prove incredibly helpful for people who are trying to be more careful with their money.
