Having everything few clicks away might be very tempting, especially if we're talking about buying ourselves something new, or about shopping in general.

And usually, in the moments of utmost temptation we have no one nearby to snap us out of it, or at least advise us if our purchase is worth the money or we should wait a bit more before we checkout.

Luckily, there's shopout, a Chrome extension that can alert us better than anyone if we are close to making a mistake with our hard-earned money. Now, don't imagine the extension will be like someone who's always on your back and keeps nagging you not to buy this or that.

No, not at all! In short, what shopout does is to allow you to calculate, based on the values you have set, how much you need to work to be able to pay for a product or for your shopping cart. Whenever you check some goods on a website, it will give you an estimate and, with that, you can decide if it's worth the effort or not.

The extension is easy to set up and use. You only need to click on the toolbar icon and access the Settings button, which will lead you to the tab where you can add your monthly wage, working days, hours and also the currency type of your payment.

With all that ready, whenever you will check a product on a page, a little box will slide in the right corner of the screen and inform you of the estimated amount of time you need to work for purchasing said product.

A great thing I discovered is that you don't really need to set your whole wage if you don't want to. Instead you can add whatever sum of money you have, let's say, as a budget for shopping. This way, it will calculate, based on your set budget, how much time it will take for you to afford the item that you always wanted.
