Bookmarks Commander for Firefox

All major browsers, including Firefox, come with an integrated bookmark manager that enables you to organize websites you access most. However, if you have a large number of saved bookmarks, the default manager might just not be enough. That is where Bookmarks Commander comes in.

Bookmarks Commander for Firefox is nothing more than a commander-like bookmark manager, available for both Firefox and Chrome. Its purpose is to make handling bookmarks much easier by using a double-sided panel that integrates with your browser. In other words, no third-party application is required to enjoy the NC-like bookmark viewer and manager.

Once you install the extension and grant it the requested permissions, you will be able to access it by clicking on the new icon that appears in the toolbar area. The Bookmarks Commander is opened in a separate tab, where you can see a list of all your folders stored in the root bookmark directory. By default, this includes the bookmark menu and toolbar, mobile bookmarks and other bookmarks.

As you probably expect, it is possible to create new folders and organize bookmarks as you wish, just like you would with regular files in Windows. New bookmarks can be created as well, althugh keep in mind that installing this extension does not interfere with the functionality of the default bookmark manager of Firefox. In other words, with Bookmarks Commander installed, you have a new way of adding and managing bookmarks, alongside the built-in management tool.

Just like in standalone commander-like file managers, Bookmarks Commander displays a set of commands in the lower side of its window. With the click of a button you can send the title, the ID and the URL of the selected bookmark, edit the titles and links or create new bookmarks and folders to organize them.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to drag and drop or copy a bookmark entry from one panel to the other. However, there are also a few navigation controls that enable you to jump to the root directory, mirror a panel into the other, delete an entry, or sort bookmarks alphabetically. Additonally, Bookmarks Commander comes with an integrated search command that also supports looking for duplicates.

An add-on such as Bookmarks Commander makes it possible to easily organize all your favorite websites and manage them with ease, all from within Firefox, without requiring another application. It helps you manage, sort and organize large bookmark collections without eliminating the default manager of the Firefox browser.
