With the rise of the technology era, classic books now have a challenger: e-books. While electronic books are rather easy to find, accessing web content on an e-book reader is more difficult. To do so, a solution to convert the HTML files to a compatible e-book format is required. One of the most straightforward solutions to this problem is the Save As eBook extension.
Also available for Chrome, the Save As eBook addon can convert any webpage you visit in Firefox or just a selection to the EPUB format, exporting the generated file to your PC. And, since the EPUB format is supported by almost any reader out there, conversion is no longer an issue.
Once the extension is added to Firefox and you grant it the required permissions, a new icon appears in the browser’s toolbar, right next to the address bar. When you stumble upon a page you want to save as an EPUB file for later reading on your device, you must simply click on the addon’s icon and choose to save the page or use the ALT-SHIFT-1 combination.
Alternatively, it is possible to select a text or graphics on a page and save them as an EPUB file using the ALT-SHIFT-2 combination or the dedicated option in the menu.
The resulting EPUB file is instantly generated and saved to your downloads folder.
If you want to merge multiple pages or selections into a single EPUB file, you can do this directly from Firefox as well, without having to use a dedicated desktop tool to merge EPUB files. Thanks to the built-in chapter editor, Save As eBook for Firefox can help you gather multiple resources into a single e-book.
Both pages and selections can be saved as chapters in your e-book. There are also key combinations for these actions, which makes your job much easier.
The chapter editor enables you to change the order of the chapters with ease and modify the title of the e-book, all from your Firefox browser. Evidently, you can also remove the chapters you no longer need. The changes can be saved and new pages or selections can be saved as new chapters until you are satisfied with the result. Then, you can generate the EPUB e-book with the push of a button.
Save As eBook for Firefox eliminates the need to use a third-party converter from HTML to EPUB format. Instead, you can easily install a browser extension to grab the content you need for your e-book reader in an instant. Thanks to the integrated chapter editor, it is easy to merge multiple pages into a single e-book and enjoy all this content later on any compatible device.
