Tweaks for YouTube

While there are various other video sharing platforms, YouTube has become the go-to service for music and video searches. The platform does offer some room for customization, but you can do even more with the Tweaks for YouTube add-on. This Firefox extension allows additional customization for YouTube and YouTube Music, in the attempt to make your overall experience even more pleasant.

The addon is easily installed in Firefox and a new button is added to the browser’s toolbar, right next to the address bar. Clicking on it reveals the main window of Tweaks for YouTube, providing one-click access to all the customization options.

Thanks to this small extension, you can interact with the video player or the mini player on YouTube using any mouse button or even the wheel. The extension features video chapters navigation, meaning it allows you to jump to a specific frame and chapter. Moreover, you can easily control the volume level and mute the video altogether or adjust the playback rate.

The add-on also features player controls, providing five different modes, including the default one. One of them requires you to learn about a minimalist progress bar, which can be shown with or without the defaults, as well as a so-called “Persistent Progress Bar”, which is always visible. It is also possible to hide or reveal different sections in the YouTube interface, such as the comments. 

It is worth mentioning that the add-on makes it possible to take snapshots while the video is playing. In other words, you can capture the current video frame and either copy it to the clipboard or save it locally in different formats.
