Rub

Rub is a lightweight software application whose purpose is to help you get notifications about the latest RSS feeds from the comfort of your desktop.

At the end of the installation process you can find the tool residing in your system tray. You can enable or disable the notifications activated upon new feeds with simple clicks.

Popup messages are displayed on the screen with the content of an article. Plus, Rub lets you go to the previous or next entry.

You are given the freedom to add a new feed by providing a custom URL. You can set up several configuration parameters related to the name of the feed, description, and automatic update time interval (daily, from 1 up to 30 minutes, or from 1 up to 10 hours).

Rub gives you the possibility to configure all sorts of notifications. You can make the program show popups with different color schemes, open the link automatically, play a custom audio file (WAV file format), and run a user-defined software tool.

The application offers you the freedom to create a list with multiple feeds, edit or delete them, configure the popup notifications in terms of position on the screen, transparency, and color, access logs with information about the feed downloading process and possible errors, set up proxy settings, as well as work with multiple monitors.

Tests have shown that Rub displays news quickly. It is not a resource hog so you can keep it running in the background without worrying that it eats up CPU and memory resources.
