A handy utility that will help you read and write RSS feeds, or easily create your own feeds without knowledge of XML format and structure. #Read RSS #Write RSS #RSS reader #RSS #Feed #Writer
Over the years, a computer connected to the Internet slowly replaced or reduced the need of other forms of multimedia devices, providing quick access to leisure, business and entertainment from the comfort of your desktop. Using the right applications and an active Internet connection, you can stay up to date with events around the world, SE-RssTools being a suitable example of useful utilities for news.
The application bundles two components that are also available in a portable version you can use on the go. One of them is dedicated to accessing various categories and feeds to read headlines, while the other gives you the possibility to create your own feeds to use in projects.
Both components properly function individually, with no dependency nor main menu to quickly switch from one to another. You can keep both of them up and running at the same time, but with sadly no option to hide them to system tray, and in the case of the reader to simply receive notifications if new entries appear.
With a decent amount of system resources used, the reader component can easily be put to good use by beginners and advanced users alike. The well-organized interface provides quick access to content, which by default is cleverly categorized in folders like business, politics, science sport and more.
The main attraction is the preview section, which is an integrated, fully-functional web browser, with multiple tab support. What's more, there's the possibility to enable a function that automatically refreshes all feeds so you never miss an entry, with unread messages being highlighted.
The writer counterpart is similarly clever by design as it is to use. Multiple channels can be created, with the possibility to also import external files found under the XML or RSS formats. Filling up a channel with headlines only requires you to fill up a few general info fields, a short description, as well as a link to the whole story.
Moreover, the application is capable of automatically saving work as you edit so no changes are accidentally discarded or lost. Your default web browser pops up with the current news feed at the press of a button so you can preview your work.
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that SE-RssTools is a handy package that contains a pair of incredibly easy to use news reading and writing components. The possibility to set up custom links enables you to stay up to date only with topics of interest, while creating a headline only takes up several seconds.
