WikiSearch is a lightweight program that brings the convenience of performing various queries on Wikipedia right onto your desktop.

Before the installation, make sure that you have Python 3.x version installed so that you avoid getting errors when launched. The program comes with a rather old-school interface that consists of a single window where you can select the language and enter the keyword or key phrase you are querying.

Once you enter the keyword, you can hit the Start Search button and a new window that displays the results will pop up. The search results window provides the original key phrase and also offers suggestions, which may come in handy in various situations. From here, you can view the article, open it in your default browser, copy the link or go back and perform a new query. It is worth mentioning that you don’t have to click on the specific button every time you want to perform an action and that the tool features hotkeys to simplify your work.

From the looks of it, the program does not address users who casually search for information on Wikipedia maybe because they are having a discussion on a topic or want to satisfy a particular curiosity, as this can be done via the classic methods.
