Chan Fiend

Pictures are probably the most uploaded type of content, with tons of new ones on a daily basis. You might want to keep a collection on your hard disk drive, but don’t really have the time to download all of them. Luckily, you can use applications like Chan Fiend to easily grab all images from a specific address in no time at all.

It takes only a little while to get the application running on your computer, with the setup process only requiring you to press a few Next buttons. However, you need to make sure that the computer you install it on is fitted with .NET Framework for the application to function as it should.

On the visual side of things, there’s not much to look at, except the pictures you want to download. A classic window frame is used to store all features, with most of the space used for the list of tasks you create, while a side panel letting you easily navigate through downloaded content.

Chan Fiend doesn’t necessarily target a specific type of website, and can even grab the one in your clipboard when trying to create a new task. Doing so brings up a small prompt, with a thread URL field for the source, a destination directory, and additional description. There’s also the possibility to scrape until dead, and to automatically start when finishing configurations.

Once a new thread is added, you can press the Start button to put it in motion. The state, URL, progress, source, status, directory, and queue time are among the details shown in the main window for each thread. More options let you scrape until dead, open the download directory, or scan downloaded content for any possible hidden images.

All things considered, we can safely state that Chan Fiend comes in handy for downloading image sets in a few seconds, leaving the process active for new uploads to be grabbed as well. The set of features feel a bit poor, but this simplicity lets anyone accommodate regardless of experience, while making the process easy and fast.
