LinkedIn has recently launched a Windows 10 dedicated app available in the Windows Store in the attempt to make the widely-known professional social network available as a desktop version. The LinkedIn Store App aims to provide one-click access to your profile through the Windows 10 start menu and a live tile, and event notifications in the Action Center.

The app is quickly installed, and soon enough you are greeted by the sign-up page. Here, you can create a new account, enter your LinkedIn credentials, or sign in using Facebook.

Once logged in, you should be able to see the main LinkedIn interface, with all the areas and functions you might already be accustomed to if you are an older LinkedIn user. The top toolbar provides instant access to the home page and allows you to check out your network connections, view invitations you have to respond to, and a list of people you might know.

Just like you would in a web browser, you can search for jobs and update your career goals. The web messenger is also blended into the Store App, allowing you to keep in touch with your contacts. You can easily manage and edit your profile, check your past activity, and configure your account's settings.

The main plus of the Store App in comparison with a browsing LinkedIn session is the integration with the Action Center. In other words, you will be able to see real-time notifications about newly received messages in the LinkedIn inbox, people who visited your profile, network updates, recent news in the fields you are interested in, and so on.

Highlights from your LinkedIn account are displayed in the live tile of the Start Menu. And the LinkedIn Store App can be managed just like any other Windows program, from the taskbar.

While it does allows you to use and browse LinkedIn from the comfort of your desktop without using a browser, it's fair to say that the LinkedIn Store App is nothing more than a web wrapper of the popular website. Besides the handy integrations with the Windows 10 operating system, there is nothing to differentiate it from a regular browsing session.
