Facebook and Instagram are some of the world's most popular social media platforms, so it's only natural that they see a lot of usage each day. While they are primarily used on mobile, the web-based versions on PC are serviceable, if a bit clunky to use as you have to open multiple tabs to access both platforms.

A lot of people use Facebook for its Messenger functionality, so what if you had the chatting function of Facebook side-by-side with your Instagram feed, all under one interface? This is what Messengram was conceived for, and to that end, it's a great convenience booster.

The program is straightforward, and there isn't anything noteworthy about its design. As it was built using Electron, it's basically a mini-browser, split in two: on one side, you have an invisible Messenger tab, whilst in the other, you have your Instagram feed. The program might appear overly simple when explained like this, but what's most important is that everything works as intended.

You'll have to log into your Messenger and Instagram accounts first. As the connection is handled through the official domains, there is no risk of getting your data stolen. Upon authenticating, you can proceed using those two platforms as you would normally: chatting with your Messenger contacts works as it should, and you can even directly upload photos to your feed on Instagram.

If you only want to use either Messenger or Instagram, you can toggle the other off and have the whole interface with one platform. This can be done by going to File, then navigating to Preferences.

A dark mode is also available, and for the most part, it works relatively well. However, it's worth noting that the color inversion method of this app's dark mode is not foolproof: images' colors will be inverted, which might make some photos look odd and unsightly.

Messengram keeps it simple, and does exactly what it intends to do by bringing Messenger and Instagram under one interface, making life more convenient for the users of those platforms.
