Clearing the browser activity is a routine operation everyone does once in a while, one that can enhance the browser’s responsiveness. However, deleting the browsing history and the stored cookies does not mean that the system erases the data for good. Surprised? Not at all, right?

The main window of Starus Web Detective encompasses information about the application’s capabilities and purpose, while also allowing you to start the system analysis with the click of a button.

First, the application scans to find all the available user accounts and allows you to choose one to carry out the analysis. The next step displays all the detected browsers installed on the local system or even those who are no longer installed (if compatible with Starus Web Detective). At this point, you must select the browser that will be the object of the analysis. Aside from the major players, such as Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari, Vivaldi or SRWare Iron, the application can also extract data from less popular navigators.

It does not take long before Starus Web Detective displays the browsing history as extracted from the PC’s records, even if deleted from the browser.   The list of visited pages is shown in a table, and so is the list of downloaded files. Starus Web Detective also shows the database files containing the browser’s history, cached content, preferences, shortcuts, favicons, and more.

Passwords and authentication credentials cached by the web browser are also available. Images, documents and other files that have been saved by the web browser locally are revealed. A preview is available for each. All the data Starus Web Detective finds can be exported and saved locally.
