The main window of AdGuard VPN is simple and well-organized, revealing the current connection status and the list of VPN servers that you can opt for. It might take a few seconds for the application to load the list of locations in the right order, but in the end you get the first three that guarantee the fastest estimated connection time.

Connecting to a VPN server only requires you to select the server and hit the “Connect” button. Nevertheless, browsing the “Settings” area beforehand is not such a bad idea, as there are a few configuration tools that require your attention.

For instance, you can set exclusions in AdGuard VPN and there are two functioning modes in this case. In General mode, AdGuard VPN connects to the target VPN server on any webpage except the ones you specify. On the other hand, the so-called Selective mode connects to the VPN server of your choice only when visiting the webpages on the exclusion list.

AdGuard VPN comes with an interesting feature that focuses on privacy first and foremost, When on, the kill switch automatically blocks the connection to the Internet in case the VPN connection drops.

There are also options to configure DNS servers yourself and a few advanced settings that help you run a local proxy server to be used by other apps. The application logs its activity by default and, interestingly enough, there is also an extended logging mode, which can be used after consulting the developer’s technical support to get more information about the application’s activity.
