Azure VM Cloner is a program that addresses users working with Microsoft Azure and that need an efficient way to migrate the virtual machines from the Service to the Resource Manager. Sometimes, you may want to create a snapshot of the VM you are upgrading to have as a backup in case you are not completely certain that the upgrade or patch is going to be installed correctly.
Following the installation, you need to apply for a license to be able to use the application, key that you can obtain via an automatic email. The app comes with a clean and intuitive interface and, immediately after you logged in your Azure account, you should be able to preview all the available virtual machines.
You can create a clone by selecting the virtual machine that you are considering upgrading and, if you happen to have additional disks attached, rest assured that the app prompts you to create snapshots of them at the same time. The next steps entail that you select the target subscription, resource group and location as well as the destination Storage Account along with its virtual network and subnet. Once you choose a name for the new VM and the post completion options to be available, the app starts the cloning process.
