DbAssistant is a small, simple application specially designed to offer users a small toolkit to make database related web-development easier.
When you develop a website, you often assign a database to it for example MySQL. Then you have to build some database interface. In all ways you develop it, the only thing which differs from each one's interface is the database structure.
The actions performed are usually SELECT, INSERT or UPDATE data in tables. So it's possible to distinguish 'database-interaction' part as a automated part of development. DbAssistant tries to be an application which can do such things.
What's new in DbAssistant 3.0:
- Direct SQL queries support added (old query constructor is now called 'Query Wizard');
- Results of SQL queries are now handled by mysql_fetch_row() instead of mysql_fetch_array();
- Webpage code generation mechanism changed - 'code' property was added to WebPage. Now you control code generation by specifying page HTML layout in its 'code' and use special control tags in it to include PHP code of DbAssistant objects stored under this webpage;
- Added loadable modules (plugins) support: now the functionality of DbAssistant objects may be extended by them;
